Each week, I’ll be writing about the animal related things I’m reading, watching, and listening to!
Watching: A snippet of “Do I Wanna Know?” by The Arctic Monkeys, covered by AcousticTrench, with help from Maple the Pup – I could honestly watch videos of these two all the time!
Listening to: “Animals and Us” from the TED Radio Hour – this episode is all about animals and our relationship with them. Guy Raz talks with several TED speakers about their work and their animal related TEDTalks, including Ian Dunbar about training animals and Laurel Braitman about animal mental health.
Reading: Esther the Wonder Pig, by Steve Jenkins, Derek Walter, and Caprice Crane – this book is a wonderful story about a couple unexpectedly adopting a full sized 600 pound pig! Esther joined Steve and Derek’s family in the summer of 2012 when an old friend said she needed to find a home for a “micro piglet”. However, it eventually became apparent that there was nothing micro about Esther and after some growing pains, Steve, Derek, and Esther eventually moved to a farm and started the Happily Ever Esther Farm Sanctuary!
