Animal News – Sept. 8th, 2017

The worst of Hurricane Harvey seems to have passed but it’s still going to take years to rebuild everything. I wrote last week about all that was going on with the storm and the different organizations to support but those most impacted by the storm (humans and animals alike) are going to need support during the next foreseeable future.

Harvey the Hurricane Hawk is now at the TWRC Wildlife Center, an organization that’s also helping the numerous other wild animals impacted by the storm.

Listening to: Animal Love: How A Shelter Director is Saving the Lives of Cats and Dogs – NPR’s Weekend Edition. This isn’t strictly Harvey related but does highlight the passion that many folks have for taking care of animals.

Supporting: I know I mentioned them last week but I still recommend helping and supporting the SPCA of Texas if you are able. Like I said, the worst might be over for the storm but it’s still going to take a long time to really rebuild the impacted areas.
